Description

[OMG FULLVIEW IS LIKE X100000000000000 TIMES BETTER (just to drop a hint)]

A triptych of the three focal characters for my original retelling of the Shakespearian play, Hamlet, Prince of Demark.
For the story, I planned to use only the bare bones of the original play (such as characters and their respective names, the names of places, etc.), and intergrate a more science fiction setting and atmosphere for which the basic plot of the story would be nourished into something that defers more into a creation of my own design.
As I was reading more of the play (and analysises(sp?) of certain scenes), I was particularly intrigued more by the psychological aspect of the characters involved instead of the actual incident that leads Hamlet to his demise. In my personal opinion, I think that it was his paranoia and eventual insanity that lead to his (and most everyone else's) destruction rather then that acutal murder of his father. And I think that you could do some pretty interesting things with the the psychological aspect here, and I'm leaning towards the influence of a drug titled Black Pearl (because that is an alternate term for heroin, not just the ship in PotC). But, I'm
rambling.
As for the clothes they wear I have to abmit that I'm very partial to drawing fur. But I was also partial to the idea of a wintery, barren landscape in which the people of the walled-in city/castle populate, living together in an Organizational community, resembling a futuristic tribe of sorts. With everyone (and I plan to play this longing into Hamlet's own mind as a sort of influence on the things that he does) dreaming of asomething better (as we humans always seem to do).

From left to right: Hamlet, Ophelia, and Horatio
pencil and coloured pencil on coloured cardstock of the same (wtf?scanner) colour.
